Adrien Silva finally completed his move to Leicester City.

The Portugal midfielder signed with The Foxes during the summer transfer window, but the paperwork was submitted 14 seconds past the deadline so the transfer itself wasn’t completed. As such, the 28-year-old wasn’t able to play any competitive fixture with the team until the start of 2018.

But the New Year is here, and now Silva will be able to fight for a squad spot in a crowded Leicester midfielder. The 28-year-old has played several behind-closed-doors friendlies to help gain match fitness, though, and he couldn’t hide his joy in an interview with the club’s official channel.

“It’s been very frustrating, but now the difficult times are past me and now I’m very happy to be close to my goal. I’ve been working hard every day to arrive at this moment and I’m in good shape. I will be in good shape because I have worked a lot — I have confidence in that — but I have to play games to get better,” Silva told LCFC TV.

The Portugal international completed a 22 million move from Sporting Lisbon on transfer deadline day, and now he will have the chance to gain some much-needed first-team football. He has both the EPL debut and the upcoming World Cup on his sights, so the sooner he can play, the better for all parties involved.
